Do you know that mobile phone nowadays can be infected by viruses also? Since all the additional functions were added into the mobile phone, including the net service and memory data card, mobile phone is at high risk now! As we know, the CPU, laptop, PDA, and some other electronic devices that commonly used by the public are hacked frequently by viruses, worms, spyware, spam and so on. If it is very serious, the devices have to reformat again.

Comparatively speaking, mobile phone will have the same problem. The mobile phone nowadays can access into the wireless network, internet network, Bluetooth network and even the 3G function. These whole network services comprise a lot of threats which may hack and damage your mobile phone’s software.

Besides this, the memory card that the mobile phone uses is also the source of where the viruses come from. People usually transfer files and software from the CPU by using the card reader or cable. When there is virus inside the CPU, it will spread together with the files or software in the CPU through the card reader or cable into your mobile phone. Even transferring files via Bluetooth and infrared too! Hence, your mobile phone will become uncontrollable and all the files and software will be gone little by little.

One Response to “Cellphone security”

  1. Anything you say on an analog cell phone can be easily overheard by someone using a scanner. Digital cell phone transmissions are scrambled for better protection, but eavesdroppers with the right equipment may be able to unscramble them.
The cell phone is nothing less than a simplified computer. Combine this fact with the number of cell phones that are out there, and you have an attractive target for an attacker. If you think this is not a problem that exists, think again! There have been numerous viruses released for cell phones. Some only kill your battery as they scan for new victims, but others actually make phone calls to high priced lines or send costly SMS messages without the owner’s knowledge or consent. The point is, cell phone viruses (and other forms of malware) are here and will only grow in popularity.
Currently, avoiding these malicious pieces of code is simple. Do not install illegal software and do not open attachments. Sound familiar? These two rules should because they are the same rules you should be following when operating your PC! The best protection? Be aware of what you discuss on your cell phone. Remember that it acts as a handheld broadcast station. Don’t give out your credit card number or other sensitive or confidential information; don’t say anything you wouldn’t say on broadcast radio or TV.
One of the largest problems in wireless communication is cell phone security. There are two worries: Other people listening into cell phone calls and other people illegally billing time to a user’s account. The latter is called cell phone cloning. Cell phone cloning is illegal and if you suspect you are a victim of cell phone cloning, notifies your cell phone carrier immediately.
